Bollywood’s sizzling actress Kangna Ranaut has climbed her way to stardom doing films that justify her character and not getting lured by the glamour of commercial cinema. In many a film, she has portrayed characters of women who are psychic or spiritually challenged and has earned special recognition for her unmatched craft.
She takes us down the memory lanes to days when she forayed into the showbiz world barely at 17. “I used to think this is such torture – shooting for multiple hours and working for so long. At times, you’re supposed to begin your day at 5.30–6 am,” she reflects.
Earlier, she also observed a gender discrimination. “I would think ‘Why this break for that actor, and why this one for me?’”
However, things are brightening up for the fairer sex with Bollywood going through a period of transformation and making woman-centric films as well. “After spending a decent amount of time in the industry, one becomes more calculative and observant. Today, I feel that if I’ve chosen to do this kind of work, I better live up to it. I understand the business of filmmaking,” she sighs.
Her choices of films have certainly paid off. With films like ‘Yeh Lamhe’, ‘Raaz 2’ and ‘Fashion’ in her kitty, she has succeeded to showcase the talent and calibre she possesses. And she has miles to go before she hangs up her boots. We can, surely, expect much more from this temptress.
