Emraan Hashmi says, Award functions are like a circus
"These award ceremonies really don't make a difference to me. I have got my acclaim and awards from the audience... I don't really see that (award functions) as something I ever really believed it. I generally don't approve of these nominations," Emraan told us.
"If you see any award ceremony, they are pleasing everyone. There are three categories for every actor... it's ridiculous... and three awards given to music. I really don't want to be part of the circus. The whole industry goes and claps for it but I don't want to be part of it," he said.
Set primarily in 1970s Mumbai, "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai" captures the changing face of the Mumbai underworld seen through the eyes of a police officer.
Directed by Milan Luthria, the crime thriller follows the rise of Sultan ( Ajay Devgan) and his eventual fall when his protege Shoaib (Emraan) challenges his supremacy and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of the city.
While Emraan was nominated at both the Star Screen Awards and the Apsara Awards, he did not bag a prize for his performance. Emraan has won an award for his work in " Murder" at the 2005 Stardust Awards.

“We are taking it away from the space people are actually thinking it’s in. It taps the simple angle of lust and all that was there in the first part. But it doesn’t dwell primarily on the area of lust. It takes into more edgy thrill space,” he said.
“Thrill was there in ‘Murder’ but people associated only with the sensuality, probably that kind of boldness. This is bold in a very different way. All the presumptions what media and people have would be probably put to rest when they see the film. We never had films with serial killers. It deals with those different areas. That’s what makes it new and unique,” Emraan added.
Sultry Mallika Sherawat has been replaced by actress Jacqueline Fernandez as the female lead in “Murder 2″.
Emraan is next to flaunt his six-pack abs after actor Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor, but the actor is quite nonchalant about it.
“I don’t understand that six-pack band thing anyways. I did it because my director said that I need to look tough for a role. I am not obsessed with the pack thing,” he said.

Emraan Hashmi to star in Three Sequels
Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi will be starring in sequels of three of his films next year.
The actor will be seen in the second parts of “Murder”, “Jannat” and “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” — all of which were hits at the box office.
“The script of the second part of ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ is getting written out. So right now, there is no confirmation when it will start, but it’s definitely on,” the actor said.
“The sequel of ‘Jannat’ too will start next year. Kunal Deshmukh is still scripting it. We will try and make it bigger and better than the original ‘Jannat’. In this one he will deal with another area of match-fixing,” he added.
The 31-year-old also threw light on the sequel of “Murder”, which was one of his earlier films and had helped him gain recognition in the industry after his debut “Footpath” failed to make a mark.
“We are working on the sequel of ‘Murder’ too. We will start shooting for that in November this year,” he revealed.
When asked what made him sign on to so many sequels, the actor explained: “I’m not doing the sequels just because the first part was a hit.
“It’s very important that when a sequel is being made the script is good, it’s important that it’s better than the first part because people expect it from the film. There is more responsibility. Keeping all that in mind, I then said ‘yes’ for the films.”
At the moment, the actor, who is known to essay characters with grey shades, will be seen in a similar role in “Crook” also starring Arjan Bajwa.
The film, which touches upon the subject of racial attacks on Indians in Australia, has been directed by Mohit Suri and will release Friday.

'Crook' Movie preview - Emraan Hashmi and Neha Sherma First Look: Vishesh Films have released the first look of 'Crook: It's Good To Be Bad' starring Emraan Hashmi and debutante Neha Sharma. The film releases in theatres on October 8.
Crook focuses on the issue of racial discrimination experienced by Indians abroad and specifically dwells on the recent attacks on Indians in Australia.
The film directed by Mohit Suri additionally stars 'Fashion' Boy Arjan Bajwa.

The story of Crook is about Jai, who has a knack of getting into trouble. His Father was a gangster who wanted to reform. On assurance from his friend Inspector Joseph, Jai's father agreed to rat on his evil bosses. Inspector Joseph guaranteed him that he would find Jai's father and Jai a safe passage into the world of good once his bosses have been exposed. But the unexpected happened. Jai witnessed the fatal double cross on his father, despite his confession, by a senior police officer. Joseph's valiant effort to save him went in vain. This traumatic incident left a lasting impression on Jai's mind that there was no point in being good and that 'It's Good to be Bad.' Joseph adopted Jai out of guilt and tried to instill his Christian values of finding a God within but the memories from the past had already cast themselves deep in Jai's mind. Despite repeated attempts to reform him, Joseph failed to ignite the light of good within Jai's soul. And when matters went almost completely out of hand with Jai's checkered criminal life, Joseph arranged an alternate identity for him as Suraj Bhardwaj and sent him away to Australia – a land far away from his past.
Jai had promised Joseph in Australia he would stay clear of any trouble. It was a golden chance to feel the grass on the other side of the fence. Almost immediately after landing, Jai met Suhani, an Indian Australian with an unadulterated honest vision of 'one world'. Although she hailed from a conservative traditional Punjabi family that took pride in being Indian, Suhani secretly fostered a much liberal outlook towards life. Her elder brother Samarth was just the opposite. Samarth was convinced that Australians had a one-point agenda to bring Indians down. Jai found his home with the bumbling punju boys GoldE and gang. They were happy go lucky 'sardar' boys who knew that the ticket to heaven was through attaining a permanent residency in Australia. GoldE almost echoed Joseph's voice when he warned Jai to stay out of trouble and concentrate on his work – he arranged for Jai to get a job as a taxi driver in Samarth's garage. Suhani was intrigued by Jai's manner. He was flirting but with a flair. He was lying but in style and he was conniving but with a pure heart. She could spot in the first instant that she met Jai that beyond his prankster lying front, Jai had a deeper side to himself that he refused to acknowledge.
Jai knew that if he could make Suhani fall in love with him he could eventually attain permanent residency by marrying her but her brother was too much of an obstacle. So while Jai was busy scheming for Suhani's love he was also flirting with Nicole, the stripper from a nearby strip club. But his problems with Nicole were almost similar to Suhani's as Nicole's brother, Russel, was a rowdy skinhead from the block. Trouble followed Jai where he tried to run away from it as he witnessed the cold-blooded racial assault on Samarth. Going to the police would mean an investigation on Jai's credentials and walking away would mean losing Suhani. Jai had fled from India to find a new hassle free life and now found himself in the heart of a racially disturbed city. Jai's plight grew as the racial attacks spread across the city. The only way to deal with the issue at hand was to take the bull by its horns. He found himself at a crossroad of good and bad. But ironically the line dividing good and bad was running straight through his heart. It was a time when Jai had to figure whether it's Good to be bad or it is Good to be Good.

Emraan Hashmi Refussed Bkini killer offer: It’s not that Emraan Hashmi isn’t open to playing negative roles. But he has perhaps played a criminal too often and now wants a change.
Recently seen playing a gangster-turned-don in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Emraan was offered to play alleged serial killer Charles Sobhraj in a film but the actor turned it down.
Director Prawal Raman, who has directed films like ‘Loot’, ‘Zabardast’, ‘Gayab’ and ‘Darna Mana Hai’, wants to bring the life of Sobhraj onscreen and wanted Emraan to play the role.
Emraan, however, declined the offer because he did not want to play another negative character so soon.
“Emraan does not see the point of doing another role on the same lines. He does not want to be type-casted in any particular role. Not that he will never do another role like that of Shoaib, but he wants some gap,” said a source close to the actor.
Sobhraj, who is a French citizen and is of Indian and Vietnamese origin, is serving a life sentence in Nepal for the murder of an American tourist in 1975.
The 66-year-old is alleged to have killed 12 people across Asia in the 70s, earning the moniker of ‘serpent’ or ‘bikini killer’.
