Hindi films, churned out by bollywood  has for long been ruled by actresses  who have been proficient in the language  understood by all Indians- Hindi. There was a time when dialogue delivery was considered to be an essential part of becoming a good actress. Even though beauty did play an important role, it was more of the emotions displayed through the dialogues that made a top actress a class apart from the rest.

However, with the obsession of the western culture that slowly seeped into our films there were more and more leading ladies who spoke the language with an accent or without knowing the intricacies of it at all.

With many girls entering the bollywood scene through the International pageants, more and more emphasis was given to beauty from the looks and less emphasis was given to the dialect or the spoken word.

The superficial beauty or the visual beauty which dominates the film industry in the modern era has opened its doors to actresses with stars in their eyes for making it big in bollywood.

Today’s top actresses like Katrina Kaif, Lara Dutta and Bipasha Basu, to name just a few  of them, are all girls who speak the language with a particular accent or even style that is more westernized than it ever has been in bollywood.

Yet, these are the actresses who are loved by the audience and every thing from their style statements to their way of talking is emulated by millions of fans the world over. Modern times have arrived and till there is again a u-turn in the penchant for a pure language ,these girls are there to rule the roost!
