Bollywood's first family kept away from the 55th Filmfare Awards on Saturday evening, sticking to their threat of boycott. Aishwarya Rai, who was supposed to perform at the event, also decided to pull out.

The family is angry that the Mumbai Mirror, which published the article, still hasn't formally apologised for the story, which claimed Aishwarya was suffering from stomach tuberculosis, leading to an inability to conceive - a news branded as “completely false” by father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan.
The Mumbai Mirror and Filmfare both belong to the Times Group.
Big B demands apology for 'violation of journalistic norms'
Meanwhile, actress Vidya Balan collected the Big B’s Filmfare award on his behalf on Saturday evening. The actress shared top acting honours with Bachchan, following the duo's performance in Balki's Paa. Vidya won Best Actor in a Leading Role (female) and Amitabh Bachchan roped in Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male).
